- No Rest For The Wicked.
- Temeraire slash. I've only read part of the first book but I am already seeing so much potential.
- Heinrich IV/Gregory VII foe-yay. I was thinking about this in my Medieval Civ class this morning and lol'd.
- The Mysteries of Udolpho, as always.
- Emma.
- Crossovers involving any combination of Temeraire, Mairelon the Magician, and/or Master and Commander. Two of the above would be fun; I'm not sure how all three would work out, but it would be entertaining, at least.
- The Dangerous Alphabet.
- Redwall: The Graphic Novel.
- Barack Obama and his administration. I know there's a fandom. Where's the fic?
- Abelard and Heloïse.
- Peter Damian slash, while I'm at it. How deliciously ironic would that be?
If any of this exists and is quality, please let me know? I would love to read some good fic right about now. I will probably come back to update this list as the whim strikes me. Also, hi guys! I'm still alive! <3 Tags: fandom, fanfic, just for future reference, list Current Mood: recumbent

So here I am, during my last summer in Iowa, feeling incredibly homesick for my home state of Minnesota. The longer I'm away from home, the more I miss my lovely state, which is so awesome in every season. And so I've spent my time making myself more homesick making a mix - a year's worth of music for Minnesota, complete with an illustration for each month. Caveat: while most of these artists are from or have connections to Minnesota, there are a few who are not. I picked these songs to fill out my general idea of what a year in Minnesota is. I used musicians with local connections as much as possible, but not all of them are. So it is not a purely Minnesotan mix in that sense; sorry. But, in any case, here you are. ( Minnesota, Minnesota: a North Star State fan mix )After I finished with this mix, I realized that I have a bunch of other Minnesota-related songs that don't fit into my whole twelve-month scheme. So here, have some bonus Minnesota booster tracks. :-) By the way: Ski-U-Mah is a cheer that's been used at the University of Minnesota for a really really long time. It comes from a Sioux (I think?) war cry, ski (pronounced like "sky"), plus U and M(ah) for the U of M. There's your history lesson for today.( Rah Rah Rah for Ski-U-Mah: Bonus Booster Tracks! )Tags: music Current Mood: nostalgic

I'm sure many of you, being the cool people you are, have heard of livelongnmarry. It's a community dedicated to a fannish charity auction, with the payments in the form of donations to organizations that support marriage equality. It's to help keep Mr. Sulu married! Now who could possibly be against that? :-) Regardless of your politics, it's a lovely comm with a very worthwhile aim. There are some amazing things up for auction, now through July 15 - from fanfic to art to homebaked cookies to custom knit socks. Even some fantasy authors have joined the fun - I nearly died with joy when I saw this post by the ever-amazing Tamora Pierce (!!!). And I have bravely offered my time, fingers, and embroidery floss in many colors to The Cause. If you want to check out what I'm offering and even maybe bid on me, I would be beyond pleased. Or browse the other items up for auction (there are some really, really brilliant ones, and I only wish I were a millionaire so I could both buy this guy's care package/fic and pay the rent, but alas, it is not to be), or make your own listing! The sky is the limit, here, and it really is for a good cause. That is all. Nothing much to report here, except eee, Tammy Pierce. <3 Tags: embroidery, fandom, geek, good cause, plug Current Mood: happy Current Music: "Re: Vos Cerveaux", Jonathan Coulton

Sooo I sort of forgot about the MEFAs, but I have a story nominated anyway! And I didn't even self-nominate this year! *is proud* My nominated story is The Night's Eye, which is about legends and family and faithfulness and Halbarad. In other news, I am trying to be a more active participant in my plethora of fandoms. (Although I think I really do have fewer than a lot of people, which is good, because ack, sooo busyyy.) So expect some writing from me this summer, and maybe some other things; we will see. Also, on that note, I have procrastinated on doing my Latin homework sufficiently that I actually have something to show for it: a fan soundtrack for my favorite character in Anne Radcliffe's wondrous novel The Mysteries of Udolpho. (It's a locked post, but you can join the community to view it. It's a fun comm, and there are a lot of really good and interesting mixes posted.) Hi all, I have not been around a lot, my fault, I'm sorry. Forgive me? <3 This is my current dilemma: I'm writing a Silm fic for the first time in about a century, but I'm having problems because 1. it's haaaard and 2. I am away at college without my collection of Tolkien books and I do not have the necessary source materials. :-( So I have a request and I hope someone will be willing and able to do this for me. I'm planning to write about Queen Berúthiel, the one with the cats, you know, and I know there's a relevant passage about her in the Unfinished Tales, which I do not have with me here at this exact moment. Does anyone happen to have the UT handy and have a bit of time to spare to find that page and type it up for me? I will love you forever and bake you cookies or something in return, promise. That's all. Hope you all are having a nice summer (and/or winter depending on which hemisphere you're in) and things. :-) Tags: fandom, fic, request, silm, tolkien Current Mood: hopeful

1. ( That characters-meme from the last time. )2. Classes are overrr. You know what that means: time to READ! Hurray! Currently I'm working on the Elizabeth Langford biography of Byron ( The Life of Byron; interestingly, it was written before the Monty Python movie Life of Brian; hmm). It's the third Byron biography I've read, and oh, but I love it. I've also just finished the book Something Rotten by Jasper Fforde, one of his Thursday Next series, which was pretty good and funny and had Hamlet in it, anyway, which is always fun. Also, I love that he named his villain purely for use in a pun at the very end of the book: "I almost feel sorry for him," said Joffy, who was a lot more forgiving than I. "Poor Yorrick." "Yes," replied Hamlet sarcastically, "alas."Hee. :-) The rest of the books on my current to-be-read list (if you have any to suggest, I'd love to hear): Victor-Marie Hugo, The Hunchback of Notre DameJasper Fforde, The Well of Lost PlotsCarolyn Parkhurst, The Dogs of Babel3. If you haven't seen the absolutely beautiful site for the movie Stardust, please do. It's... oh, amazing. I'm so looking forward to it. :-D 4. 10littlebullets is one clever woman. Yea verily. This only cements E/R, for me, as Victor-Marie Hugo's OneTrue(NoSeriouslyGuysIMeanIt)Pairing. It was meant to be. 5. ...Oh yeah, and did I mention that I'm done with classes for the semester. I AM. IT IS GLORIOUS. ♥ 6. Mysteries of Udolpho fanfiction is coming. Soon. I have only three sentences left to write but it is like pulling teeth and aargh. But I'm going to finish it before I leave for home, which is in precisely a week, so feel free to kick me if I don't have it up within the next few days. I probably deserve it. :-) Tags: fandom, meme, school, slash Current Mood: mellow Current Music: "If Your Kisses Can't Hold The Man You Love", Rasputina

Shamelessly stolen from coppertone and thefinestmusic: 1) Make a list of 15 characters first, and keep it to yourself for the moment. (That way you're not leading the questions asked to fit the characters.)
2) Ask your flist to post questions in the comments. For example: "4, 6, 12 & 15 are starting a band together, what is their name and what kind of music do they play? Also, who's the lead singer, and what instruments do the others play?"
3) After your flist has asked enough questions, round them up and answer them using the 15 characters you selected beforehand, and then post them.I've made my list (and checked it twice: so, unlike the last time, I didn't even use Finrod twice this time!). Fandoms, in case you're interested, are a very mixed basket and include Tolkien, Alanna (haha YES), Les Miz, Star Trek: TNG, Udolpho, Shakespeare, Discworld, Star Wars, and Dorian Gray.
